I’m taking a gap year!

Hello lovelies!

It’s been quite a while since I sat down to write any content. I’ve been uber busy with some stuff, some personal, others not so personal. I wrote an exam, visited friends and I’m currently taking a gap year after college.

For those of you that are a bit confused by my previous statement, allow me to explain.

A gap year is basically a year-long break between either high school and college or undergraduate and grad school. Basically, in my country, it’s mandatory for every college graduate to go through this youth service scheme where you take a break and serve your country. I don’t mean like fight in battle or anything of that sort. I mean like learn about the culture and heritage of it, meet people from the different states and learn to work with them. Once you’re done with college, you apply for the scheme and the government gets to post you to whatever part of the country, where you will be spending the next one year of your life. So yes, very basic, but not so basic.

Tbh, I wasn’t very excited about it. The thought of changing environments and comfort zones isn’t one that I absolutely appreciate. In fact I dreaded it. The first month, you have to stay in a state ‘camp’ with about 2000 other college grads from all over the country. It’s supposedly the most fun part of the whole program, but I didn’t like it very much. We had a very regimented routine everyday. We had to wear uniforms and listen to boring 5 hour lectures on values and history. Talk about punishment.

Then we had to participate in drills and march like soldiers. It was not pretty. But after a while, I kind of figured it was better to enjoy it than get dragged around sore and sad. So I decided to make friends and it even turns out, I’m a pretty good ‘marcher’ (is that even word πŸ˜„). Anyways, I’ll be spending the next 10-11 months working in the designated office that the government gave me, and doing community service πŸ˜‘πŸ˜‘.

But don’t be sad, I have some pictures that ought to cheer you up. Here is a summary of how the last month went down for me (in pic form!!). Ps: my insta fam may or may not already have a heads up in this info, but you know I have a soft spot WP fam. Some of these pics are super exclusive (and a bit embarrassing, but what the heck 😁)

That’s it you guys!!

Hope you enjoyed this very short and long overdue post of mine. Comment down below if you took a gap year after high-school or college, or if you’re planning to. Also, let me just remind you guys that the holidays are upon us. Christmas is a comin’!! I’m super excited for this year’s Christmas even though it’s like 30 something degrees Celsius at home. Lord puh-leeeeeeezzz give ya children some cold weatherrrrr! I’m also excited because December is my blogversary!! Please also comment down below what kind of posts you want to see from me this period. I will try to post as much as I can. Anyways, I will see you guys next time. Have a very merry Tuesday 😁😁.

    1. OMG OMG OMG!!! Chi chi decided to visit the blog today!! Cue confetti spray 🎊 🎊!

Of course I’m going to be blogging on Christmas and throughout the Christmas period as much as I can. I’m trying to up my blogging game 😁. Also, to answer your questions, Christmas is a very very special time of the year for me. It’s a time when I’m reminded of the superabundant love of God. When you think about the sacrifice that was made, God in his infiniteness, in his grand splendour, in his overly awesomely spectacular nature (sorry, I ran out of cool adjectives), came to this very world and humbly took form of his creation to save them plus generations unborn. It literally blows my mind, really. It demonstrates that God was and is willing to go great lengths so that we can be whole and saved. Its also a time when I can really reflect on God’s goodness and mercy and all he’s done for me over the year, still in anticipation of a better year to come. I could go on and on but let me just stop here.

Finally, festive habits? No not really. On Christmas day, I go to church, sing, hug some folks and go home and take a nap. Sometimes my family decides to eat out but not always because the restaurants and fun spots are always full during the holidays so we might wait till the day after boxing day. Super basic routine. Nothing special, sadly.

(Ps, I had to type this response twice because the first time, I was about to send it and mistakenly deleted everything. But issokay, cause even though had to retype everything from the top, it gave me the opportunity to work on my phone typing skills. Jk 😬)
